February Vacation

School vacation. This should be a week to relax.

Instead, I had a linear algebra exam online that had to be done by yesterday, three statistics chapters to do this week – videos (I’m talking 3 hours-long videos), online homework and quizzes – and the exam was posted today.  This is not due until March 10th but it’s available to begin now because we’ll be working on three more chapters of work the week we get back from break.  I have two music class chapters to work on this week.  I have my weekly XML assignment due Saturday by midnight as usual.  At least I don’t have more linear algebra to do until break ends.

Why is there work to do during vacation?  This is not right.  I’m tired. Plus, the kids are off this week too, so it’s hard with Sarah and I don’t have time to do anything else but homework. Next break will be okay because the kids will be in school and I’ll be able to get more done. However, come April, the kids will have another week off and it will be hard to get things done with Sarah home again. Three more months… three more months… three more months…

Then I will be able to catch up on things like vacuuming and cleaning the bathroom.  Putting away the piles of laundry that have been collecting on top of every piece of furniture in my bedroom for the last couple of years.  Cleaning out the fridge.  Dusting.

Of course if I’m lucky and get a job to begin after I graduate, these things can be put off until I’m eligible for a vacation from WORK.
